Tanya and I saw the Dark Knight yesterday, and personally I thought it was brilliant. The Joker is one of the greatest villains of all time, and Heath Ledger puts the perfect stamp on this notion. Bale was great as Batman, but I thought he was an even better Bruce Wayne. The movie was well-paced and didn’t feel like two and a half hours. My only regret was the fact that we know for certain Ledger won’t be back for a sequel.
Mr. Eades over at http://yewknee.com/blog puts together a summer mix series every year, and I have failed miserably every summer to come through, but not this time folks. I have put together a mix, it is a bit dancey but a small selection of stuff I have been enjoying for the past few months.
So last weekend, I parked my Focus on the street in front of my house. Sunday, I went with my fam to run errands in our other car, when we rolled back home in the driveway, I notice my bumper looks funny, and here comes this slightly goth metal chick walking up saying, I’m sorrryyyy! It turns out she dropped her drink and veered into my buper as she drove down our street. She was fully covered which was good, and I was thankful I got hit by somebody who was nice enough to leave their info, and had insurance. I later realized she had no choice, because her tire was jacked and she was stuck waiting for a tow truck for two hours. Anyways, I have had a rental for a week and I am looking forward to getting my car back. To say the least, I will no longer be leaving my car in the street.
DJ A-trak is not only a really great turntablist and producer on his own, he is also the tour DJ for Kanye West. I used to read his blog a lot, and I forgot how in depth he goes. If you want a really good description of what it is like to tour the world as a dj and play for 20,000 people a night, it really is a great read. One other interesting fact is that A-trak actually won the DMC championships like five times, all before the age of 18. Check out this video of him as a 15 year old wonder on the turnatables.
Tanya has a spider-man tattoo and personally I think its pretty cool, its classic spiderman done in the classic comic book style. I have seen a lot of comic book inspired tattoos and I usually like most of them, but this is a bit over the top, plus if you are gonna have your skin look like its ripping off and there is a spidey suit underneath, do you really have to go with the modern day blockbuster spidey?
One of my fellow whiskerinoes, James Mathias is moving to Nashville. The only catch is he has to sell his house and the value of the home is less than when he bought it. He has decided to do the following: Take $100 entries along with an essay on why you would want his home, they will review the essays, and decide the winner..the prize is his house. Personally this is genius, and I am even thinking of entering. http://100housecontest.com/
Saturday morning, I will be embarking with Tanya and Sterling on a nine hour drive to Gatlingburg, Tennessee. I am super excited! Since we won’t fly anywhere with Sterling since he is so young, we traded our timeshare for Tennessee again. We are staying at the Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort and they recently opened up their new indoor waterpark! Incidentally, we stayed here a year and a half ago, except this time I promise not to bring my wife back pregnant!
I have a list of must do’s for this trip:
-get donuts at breakfast time from the Donut Friar’s
-buy some taffy
-go to cooters and eat at least once
-cook steaks on the grill
-take some quality pictures
-order the french toast royale from some log cabin pancake joint in town
-eat ribs
I just realized all my to do’s minus one involve eating…any suggestions?
I am starting something new at work today, that involves sorting a collection of objects visually through Drag and Drop functionality. Normally, to do this, it takes A LOT of javascript, but luckily I found this on Code Project. It is a puzzle control that uses AJAX to let you make a simple drag and drop puzzle of any picture you give it…I tried it out, and I think it might hwlp me move forward with the project I am working on. Wish me luck!
